Syracuse Community Memorial Hospital Auxiliary is a lifeline to the hospital. In April of 1952 the Auxiliary was organized to assist the hospital in any way that it could. The mission remains the same today. Past and current projects include scholarship donations, Good Samaritan bingo, hosting open houses for staff, decorating the lobby at Christmas, furnishing magazines for the waiting rooms, managing the hospital gift shop and thrift shops. With the opening of the Thrift Shop in December of 2007 the Auxiliary has been able to fund many improvements to the hospital.
Meetings
Meeting dates are the 2nd Tuesday of the month July-May with no meeting in June. The meetings are held at the hospital at 1:30 p.m. Community Memorial Hospital serves many communities in southeast Nebraska. Everyone in the hospital district is encouraged to join and help support the hospital. Annual dues are $5.00.
Officers
Election of Auxiliary President and Treasurer is held in May of odd numbered years and the election of Vice President and Secretary is held in May of even numbered years.

In the past many different fund raisers have been done by the Auxiliary to purchase much needed equipment for the hospital. With the birth of the Thrift Store at 881 Mohawk St., in December of 2007, many more donations have been possible. In the first year and a half, over $70,000 was raised. The auxiliary members take pride in having one of the best Thrift Stores in the area. Being located in the former Medical Center building allows them to spread out and display the merchandise attractively. The Auxiliary also feels that they are providing a much needed service to the community by providing a local site to purchase necessities and unique items.
